Day 2

Today we did one more practice ride before the big trip begins tomorrow. But first we go into Reno city to do a few errands. First stop is the UPS store where box and wrap 2 sets of golf clubs for delivery to Pebble Beach! Our penultimate stop on the trip. Bob's wife Nancy will arrange the shipping a few days in advance. I pick up a pay as you go phone, a back up battery and set of lenses for the iPhone ( wide angle, macro and fisheye!)  - and a lead I am missing for the IPhone back up battery.

Our trip today was a fabulous trek 40 miles up to the Pyramid lake.

As usual Bob was a fountain of knowledge

Because of water diversion beginning in 1905 by Derby Dam, the lake's existence was threatened, and the Paiute sued the Department of the Interior. By the mid 1970s, the lake had lost 80 feet of depth, and according to Paiute fisheries officials, the life of the lake was seriously under threat. The beneficiary of the water diversion in the 1970s was a racially-exclusive sportsman's and leisure reserve used for white hunting and recreation near the town of Fallon.

On the trip we saw a load of wild horses (look closely at the photo!) and a state funded public rifle range.

Total Distance to Date 170 miles
