From South Bend (near Aberdeen, Washington State to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

Distance 200 Miles. Total Distance  this trip to date 1025 Miles

Really looking forward to our visit to Victoria where Bob has promised me that I will be able to go chasing Killer Orca Whales!

As we drove in to South bend last evening we had some nice coastal views from the bikes

We had a lovely stay in South Bend in the Seaquest Motel, lovely rooms, good in room coffee (not the usual coffee bags).

Bob really appreciated the service -"Eugene and I have been lucky and have met really great and very nice people all along our route but the folks at the motel in this little out of way Washington town were near the top and the pack.  I badly needed some washing done and our proprietor insisted on doing it on her personal machine and would not accept even a small gratuity for her thoughtfulness.  I guess there are times when a heartfelt thank you will have to suffice.  She also recommended that we eat at the Chester Club Bar in the rundown waterfront section of town.  Even though she had created great good-will with us, the look of the place gave us some real pause.  Concerns which were not greatly reduced by the three local drunks smoking out on the front stoop and the Club.  In any case, we persevered and ordered the house special, deep fried oysters and clam strips.  Simply delicious and some of the best food we had on the trip."

South Bend is famous for the Oyster Fishery and most people here are dedicated to one type of fishing or another. The sign in a closed shop window (above right) is quite typical.

I met this guy early in the morning and he told me about the famous Oyster fishery - I think his version of small oysters is the same as my idea of a large oyster!

Video Duration2'00"

We see our first sight of a Totem Pole. As we move North into Canada we will see a lot more of Indian culture.

We come across teams of Harley Davidson riders quite frequently - see this video below duration  50"

When we stopped for an ice cream we were admiring this Harley

We asked this other "old easy rider" what attracted him to the Harley?

We drive through the Olympia Peninsula in Washington a huge nature and wild life reserve - effectively a Rain Forest that runs from North Oregon, through Washington right up to Alaska!

Bob gives the background.
